WPI HISTORY
As the Women’s Prayer
Committee for the South Texas Billy Graham Crusade came together in
San Antonio,Texas, in December 1996, the spirit of the living
God was among us. The sweet fragrance of His love permeated the room. It was
a beautiful blend of races, cultures and denominations. This was God making John
17:21 a reality in our midst.
God had gathered women from the North, South, East and West to begin a new work.
His Spirit of oneness was moving throughout His body in this city. Our vision
grew as we continued to pray throughout the Crusade, which was held in April
of 1997 in the Alamodome. We realized the mighty blessings of the Crusade demonstrated
what God alone can do as His people unite as one in prayer.
God impressed on us that the United Prayer throughout the Crusade was just the
beginning and not the end, if we wanted to see cities transformed for Christ.
Revival historians tell us that there has never been a great spiritual awakening
in any country or locality that did not begin with Christians uniting to pray
across the boundaries that separated them. God’s hand has continued to
be upon this United Prayer ministry since He birthed the vision for Women’s
Neighborhood Prayer International. To God be the glory!
When WNP was birthed in May 1997, the vision was to enter into the marketplace
in God's appointed time. In January 2006, God made this vision a reality by birthing
Women's Marketplace Prayer International as a division of Women's Neighborhood
Prayer International. This provided Christian women an anointed prayer format
to use in their workplace to pray once a month or more for the transformation
of their place of work, city and nation for Christ!
The story goes on… In September 2007, another vision became a reality as
Women's Neighborhood Prayer International and Women's Marketplace
Prayer International became Women's Prayer International. In
addition to our new name, we have been blessed with a new look and a
new logo. Our same leadership is in full force. The same strategic
proven prayer format will continue to be offered to women gathering
in their neighborhoods or in their place of work, to pray for the
transformation of their city and nation for Christ.
THE VISION
“ Sisters in the Lord
around
the world gathering across denominations,
races and
cultures to unite in “Kingdom Praying” in their neighborhoods and
places of
work with a holy desperation for Jesus’ prayer in John 17:21 to be answered – that
millions will come
into the kingdom.”
Our Lord Jesus Christ prayed for His church: “…that they may be one,
as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that
the world
may believe that You have sent Me.” John 17:21
